Long mixed ride around Panachaiko mountain range in Achaea. I did similar loop almost 8y ago with MTB with a bit different climbing part (downhill the same). Since the loop is 80% asphalt, it really was a bit of overkill on MTB. This time I jumped on gravel bike, and even swapped the tires for 28mm road ones. For the quick flat/downhill asphalt sections I was really great! For the rest 20k on pretty solid gravel, I was still ok. I mark it as gravel since I wouldn't recommend tackling these sections on full road bike.
First section is fast and flat with old national road to Aigio. I did it very fast and with minimal effort since I had nice tail wind all the way. From Aigio a mild climb starts, and very fast becomes pretty steep (8-10% grades). After village of Kounina, the road becomes mix of gravel, dirt and old concrete. It's ok for first few kilometers, but then surpasses grades of 15-20%! with my gravel bike setup of 32T front - 32T back, I could not climb several sections and actually walked few of them. Luckily, this doesn't go more than 3k and very soon I was back on riding nice gravel road in the forest (finally offering some shadow as well) all the way to Rakita (also, the highest point of the route).
From Rakita, it was the same dowhill as years back, first with asphalt to Veteika, then short gravel section to Pigi, again sime mixed section of asphalt/dirt/concrete to Souli, and back to Patra.
