Zwiesel and Zelezna Ruda are connected by rail (for connections check bahn.de website). Between Zwiesel and Buchenau or Prášily and Železná Ruda you can travel by bus (for connections look for "Nahrverkehr Zwiesel" or "přeprava Železná Ruda" in a search engine).
From Buchenau I was first following "bat" trail to have a partial view of the village. Then at km 1.2 I switched to "linden leaf" trail. At km 3.2, I turned right into a bike trail on a gravel road bypassing a hill, but you could continue on the "linden leaf" trail to climb the hill. At km 6.6 the forest became less dense, and from km 8.5 (leaving the gravel road) I entered into meadows and then peatbogs, and more open space, following "wolf" and again "linden leaf" trails. I found this part of the trail particularly beautiful. At km 12.2, I was again on gravel road.
On the Czech side, I followed mainly red marked trail. A few hundred metres from the border to the Polednik mountain the road was asphalted (but without traffic).
From Polednik you follow gravel road, and then a path to Prášilské jezero. From the lake you continue first on a narrow path and then a dirt road in the forest.
The trail is not technically difficult, but given its length it might be moderately demanding.
