A great hike through the upper Val Formazza. Admire the two main lakes of the area with their surprisingly different blue colorations. Traverse the Bettelmatt Plateau and look at the Griespass, which leads to Switzerland; take a break at the Rifugio Città di Busto, if you so desire, and reach the Lago del Sabbione, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view from the Rifugio Somma Lombardo.
On your way back, please notice the intersection I added: there you should go left. The signals clearly describe the direct way (the one I made by turning right) as dangerous and I can partially confirm it: it is always exposed on a cliff on the right and there's a tangible risk of falling boulders on your left. Do it by keeping that in mind. More info if you click on that waypoint.

Un'ottima escursione in alta Val Formazza, in cui potrete ammirare i due laghi principali della zona, ognuno con le proprie peculiari tonalità di blu. Attraversate la Piana del Bettelmatt per osservare il Passo del Gries, che conduce in Svizzera; fate pure una sosta al Rifugio Città di Busto, se lo desiderate, e raggiungete infine il Lago del Sabbione per godere di una vista strepitosa, specialmente dal Rifugio Somma Lombardo.
Al ritorno, notate che ho aggiunto un bivio: lì conviene andare a sinistra. I cartelli chiaramente definiscono la via diretta (che ho fatto svoltando a destra) come pericolosa e lo posso in parte confermare: a destra è sempre esposta su un dirupo e a sinistra c'è un concreto rischio di caduta massi dalla parete di roccia. Se volete farla comunque, siatene consapevoli ed abbiate un passo sicuro (altre info se ci cliccate sopra).

Trovato chiuso. Degli operai alla diga hanno detto che è chiuso da un paio d'anni ormai.

A questo bivio (segnalato) svoltate a sinistra e risalite un poco verso il Rifugio Città di Busto per fare il sentiero più sicuro o per ripassare dal Bettelmatt.
At this intersection (signalled) turn left and go up a bit towards the Rifugio Città di Busto to walk the safer path or pass through the Bettelmatt plateau a second time.
