Se sigue la hermosa Ruta del Cares desde Caín hasta el puente de Bolín, y luego se remonta el Canal de Trea hasta llegar a la meseta de la Sierra Occidental de los Picos de Europa, donde en Vega d'Ariu se llega al refugio Marqués de Villaviciosa, y luego regresas.

Ruta de Cares es la parte fácil. En el Canal de Trea se sube abruptamente por un camino sin marcar (que se puede seguir intuitivamente). El camino está lleno de piedras sueltas. Se necesitan buenos zapatos y los palos son muy útiles. Aproximadamente a los 1500 metros de altitud, el camino comienza a estar señalizado con señales amarillas. Junto al refugio puedes rellenar tus botellas con agua (hay una fuente), y en el refugio puedes comprar algo de queso, bocadillos y bebidas.

El descenso es bastante agotador, pero tienes unas vistas impresionantes sobre el macizo central de los Picos de Europa (Macizo Central).

En los túneles de la ruta del Cares, el GPS se equivocó en algunas coordenadas, por lo que el sendero sugiere erróneamente que subas y bajes unas decenas de metros.

You can do a small detour to climb a nearby hill for a nice view on the Canal de Trea. Take into account that the surface of the hill is very porous and you do not see whether there is ground/stone under plants: you should watch your step and be careful not to break your leg!
