There is plenty of parking near the start of the walk in Sapperton outside the church. We will leave the Sapperton and head steeply down into the valley and then follow the River Frome and disused canal walking along the Wysis Way.
We will pass the Daneway entrance of the the Sapperton Canal Tunnel, built in the Gothic style. The tunnel is 2.17 miles long and was completed in 1789, now sadly no longer navigable. We will follow the river and the old canal (disused), walking under the the cover of the trees and taking care not to fall into one of many of the empty, but deep locks that we pass along the route. As we reach Chalford we will leave the canal and river walk behind us and head northwards through the fields to Bisley.
Once at Bisley we can take stroll around this lovely village, including All Saint's Church and stop off at the Bear Inn which has been in existence since 1639. Bisley marks the half way point of the walk and is good place to stop for lunch.
After lunch we will head back to Sapperton via Battlescombe and Oakridge Lynch. We will pause once more at Daneway Banks nature reserve a wonderful place to stop and enjoy the views before the final stretch back to Sapperton.

Very nice walk, althought it took us sometime to find some of the footpaths
