Bidearen deskribapena
This picturesque half-day hike starts from Vake Park and ends at Udzo Monastery and the Tsqnet’i village. There are some nice restaurants there. Numerous buses conveniently depart from Tsqnet’i and return to Tbilisi.
We based ourselves on an original trail mapped by DVALITY, but we opted for the reverse direction, beginning our ascent from Vake Park and heading towards Udzo Monastery. Along the way, we explored some alternative paths.
The trail is well-marked, although some signs have unfortunately been damaged or missing.
The majority of the trail involves uphill hiking, resulting in a significant altitude gain of nearly a thousand meters. However, the descent from Udzo Monastery to Tsqnet’i village presents a more challenging section, especially considering the uneven surfaces on tired legs.
Walking poles can be quite helpful with minimizing knee strain throughout the trail.
Remember to bring enough water and snacks, as there’s a delightful resting area (allowing camping for those seeking an extended adventure or those who simply want to take a break) located approximately one-third of the way along the trail. This area offers breathtaking views. There are also cafes and restaurants available at Turtle Lake.
